- 1Hold the belt at the center against your belly button.
- 2Wrap both ends around your back and bring them to the front.
- 3Cross the right end over the left, then tuck it up and under all layers.
- 4Fold the right end down and pull both ends tight โ equal length on each side.
๐ก A properly tied belt should sit two finger-widths below the navel. Practice with your child before the first class!

$29Mouthguard Fit Guide by Age
- 1Ages 4โ6: Choose a "youth" boil-and-bite guard. Trim if needed โ it should cover molars only.
- 2Ages 7โ10: Standard youth size. Boil for 60 seconds, cool 10 seconds, bite down firmly for 30 seconds.
- 3Ages 11+: Junior adult size. Re-fit if your child loses baby teeth or gets braces.
- 4All ages: Replace every 6 months or when the guard shows teeth marks through it.
๐ก A good fit means no biting down to hold it in place. If your child has to clench to keep it in, it's too big.

$27How to Measure Your Child for a Gi
- 1Height is the primary measure โ stand your child barefoot against a wall.
- 2Check the chest: wrap a soft tape under the arms across the fullest part.
- 3Add 2โ4 inches to both measurements to allow for movement and washing shrinkage.
- 4When in doubt, size up โ a slightly large gi is safer than a tight one that restricts kicks.
๐ก Dojo gis shrink 3โ5% in a hot wash. Always wash cold on first use to lock in the fit.
